Getting Started

The easiest way to get started is to speak with a member of our awards team, who can guide you through the first steps of registration, and answer any questions you may have.

You will be assigned an awards advisor, who will be your contact throughout the whole process, and offer guidance and assistance.

The first step is to complete a registration form; your awards advisor will send this to you as a PDF.
The registration form is where you select which categories you’d like to enter, and for which country.

We use the registration process to monitor the level of entries for each category as we only accept six entries per category, per country. Once there are six companies registered in a category, the category will be closed and no further applications can be accepted. For this reason, prompt registration is always recommended.

The registration form is also where you can provide payment details for the registration fee(s).

Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Submit your complete registration form swiftly to secure a place for your company.

Registering also allows your awards advisor to send you the relevant entry pack(s) for your chosen category as the criteria may vary.

Compiling your entry

Once you have been successfully registered, your awards advisor will send you the relevant entry pack for your category or categories.

The entry pack contains details about the criteria and marking process for that category, as well as detailed rules and guidelines for your entry.

Included in the entry pack is your entry form. This is where you will provide the basic information about your entry.

When putting your entry together, it’s a good idea to follow the flow of the entry criteria, labelling sections “A” “B1” “B2” etc. This will help to make sure you have covered all of the criteria and makes it easier for our judges to follow.

Remember you can also attach physical examples in your entry such as marketing material. Digital attachments unfortunately cannot be judged, except in web categories

Designing your entry to follow the flow of the entry criteria will help ensure you have covered every point. You may lose points if criteria are missed, regardless of whether your project fulfills them.

There are strict entry deadlines for each region. Please check with your awards advisor to ensure you send your entry in on time. Late entries cannot be accepted.

Packing & preparing your entry

Your entry must include your physical entry material, your completed entry form and a disc or memory stick of high resolution images of your project.

You may also wish to include attachments such as material examples or marketing packs; please ensure references are made to these attachments in your entry.

Refer to the guidelines in your entry pack for specific size & weight requirements.

Ensure you also include a disc or memory stick with high resolution images of your project.

Sending your entry

Once you’re satisfied with your entry, you need to send it to our UK office.

There are very strict submission deadlines, so it’s a good idea to send in your entry as early as possible, and use a reliable courier service.

National & regional judging sessions

We have a panel of expert judges all over the world. Each judge is allocated entries which match their areas of expertise.

Your entry will be judged against every criteria point for that category and given a rating of poor, average, good, very good, or excellent for each criteria point. After this, each judge may make notes to justify their scoring.

Designing your entry to follow the flow of the entry criteria will help ensure you have covered every point. You may lose points if criteria are missed, regardless of whether your project fulfills them.

National & regional scoring

Once all of the entries have been judged, the judges’ scores are totalled and a percentage score is calculated for each entry.

The final percentage score for your entry will decide if you win a national award or not. It will also decide if your award will be Highly Commended or 5 Star (the highest national award available).

For each category, the region’s highest-scoring 5 Star winner is automatically awarded the regional award for their category.

The percentage scoring system sometimes means that a category may have no 5 Star winners, or no Highly Commended winners. In the event that no entries meet the required standard, no awards will be given.

Congratulations!

Your awards advisor will contact you as soon as the results have been released, and inform you if your entry has won an award or not.

If you have been successful, your awards advisor will guide you through the next steps leading up to your region’s awards presentation event. The level of your win will not be revealed until this event.

If you were unsuccessful your awards advisor may be able to take you through the judges’ scoring.

You will be provided with details regarding the gala dinner presentation event including the many opportunities to help promote your win.

Announcement event

Once you have booked your tickets for the gala dinner event, you will be provided with details regarding the venue, timings and dress code.

Our events usually include a champagne reception and gala dinner, with the awards announcements taking place in the evening with the meal.

Each winner will be announced and asked to collect their award on stage with an official photographer to capture the moment.

A photography backdrop area is also available for pictures with your award.

We can also produce a high-quality DVD for winning companies. This features an introduction by a professional presenter and will include shots of the judging process and comments from the panel. It will be edited to include your company receiving its award during the gala dinner. A camera crew will be available at the event to conduct an interview. Learn more about presentation DVDs here.

To help our events run smoothly, please ensure you book your tickets early.

Please notify our team of any dietary requirements well in advance of the event.

International judging session

At the end of the awards year, all regional winners will have their entries re-judged, to will decide the International winners. Within each category, only one entry can be awarded at International level; there are no Highly Commended awards.

Our panel of expert judges are again assigned entries that match their area of expertise.

The process is similar to the regional session of judging, and judges will refer to your original entry only. It is not possible to amend your entry or send additional material.

International scoring

Once all of the regional winners have been judged, the scores are again totalled and a percentage score is calculated for each entry.

The final percentage score for your entry will decide if you win the International World’s Best award for that category.
